KCR to continue ‘fast-unto-death’ in Khammam Sub-Jail

Demanding separate statehood for Telangana, the Telangana Rastra Samithi(TRS) President K Chandrasekhara Rao decided to continue his fast-unto-death in the Khammam Sub-Jail where he was lodged, as police lathicharge, road blockade, dharnas and damages to buses marred the entire Telangana areas when the police foiled the fast by arresting Mr Rao and several top leaders. A first-year bachelor of Pharmacy student, Srikanth, was admitted to a Corporate Hospital here with 47 per cent burns, as he set himself on fire in the wake of the arrest of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi(TRS) President K Chandrasekhara Rao near Karimnagar town today. Meanwhile, Govt shutdown several cell towers and Dish services in northern Telangana .

TRS activists and students resorted to dharnas, road blockades and damaged buses in various places at Adilabad, Nizamabad, Medak and Karimnagar, in which several buses were damaged protesting against the arrest of their leader, demanding separate Telangana in the wake of Supreme Court declaring Hyderabad ''as a free zone'' for posting of policemen in Andhra Pradesh. TRS has called for Telangana Bandh on 30 November, protesting against the government’s anti-democratic move of aborting the fast unto death program of their chief in a peaceful and democratic manner

At least two activists attempted self immolation, one of them grieveously, and buses were stoned in the agitation for a separate Telangana. The news of the arrest sparked off violence in Hyderabad and several other places. The police resorted to lathi charge of students and other protestors coming out of hostel buildings on the Osmania University campus when they began raining stones at the police. Several students who were injured have been rushed to hospital. Some policemen and a TV camera person was also injured.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has demanded the State Government to withdraw all the police and revenue cases filed against the TRS MLAs and cadres in connection with proposed indefinite fast of TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao, scheduled from November 29 at Siddipet in Medak district.
