The Rangareddy district is surrounded by Nalgonda district in the East, Mahabubnagar district in the South, Karnataka state in the West and Medak in the North directions.

This district is named after the famous freedom fighter and Telanga leader Sri. Ranga Reddy as Rangareddy district. This district was earlier included in the Hyderabad district and later formed as a seperate district in the year 1978.  

Rivers in the District: Musi.

Tourist Attraction: Himayatsagar Dam, Osmansagar Dam and Vikarabad, Shivalayam at Keesaragutta Ananthaswamy Temple at Ananthagiripalle.

How to reach : The district has an extensive network of National Highways and other roads. It is well connected by road. Vikarabad located on the secunderabad-Mumbai line is an important railway station. Nearest airport is at Secunderabad.
