Musi river and its tributaries flow through the Ranga Reddy district. Only 16% of the land is cultivated by irrigation facilities. 78.16% of the arable land is used for food grains.  The total irrigated areas in hectares presently is 14,000 as against 55,000 in the year 1956-57.
