Nizamabad District is surrounded by Adilabad district in the North, Medak district in the South, Karimnagar district in the East, Nandhedu district in Maharastra state in the West directions.

It was under the rule of Chalukya, Thugluk Dynasty, Golkonda and Nizam Kings. This place was earlier called as Indrapuri . The district was formed in the year 1905.

Rivers in the District: Godavari, Manjeera, Phalungi, Yedlakattavagu.

Tourist Attraction: Nizam Sagar Dam, Sarangapuram Hanuman temple at Nizamabad  Pochampadu Project,  Pocharam Sanctuary, Nizamabad fort and Kentu Masjid.
 
How to reach : Nizamabad is situated at a distance of 150 kms from Hyderabad on Nizamabad-Bombay Highway. Nizamabad is well connected by rail and road.
