Nizamabad
District is surrounded by Adilabad district in the North,
Medak district in the South, Karimnagar district in the East,
Nandhedu district in Maharastra state in the West directions.
It was called ‘Indur’ in the past. It got its name from the
ruler Nizam Asafjahi IV of Hyderabad. During 1015-1017 B.C.
Rashtrakuta King Nityavarshendu III it came to be known as
Indrapuri. During 10th century A.D. this district was a part
of Chalukya kingdom. Bodhan was their
capital.
It was under the rule of Chalukya,
Thugluk Dynasty, Golkonda and Nizam Kings.The district was
formed in the year 1905.
