The Nalgonda district is surrounded by Medak and Warangal districts in the North, Mahabubnagar and Guntur districts in the South, Krishna and Khammam districts in the East, Mahaboobnagar and Hyderabad districts in the West directions.

 It was under the rule of  Sathavahana, Golkonda, Moghal and Nizam Kings and it was called as Neelagiri in olden days.

Rivers in the District: Musi, Dindi and Krishna.

Tourist Attraction:Nagarjuna Sagar Dam, Bhongiri Fort, Buddhist sites and Pochampally textile center, Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy Temple at Yadagiri Gutta, and Kolanpaka Jain temple.

Handicrafts: Bross ware of Chanduru, Wooden crafts of Bhongir,  Puttapaka and Pochampalli Textiles of Koyyalagudem.
