The rivers flowing through the Medak district are Manjira and Valdi. Majira river is a tributary of Godavari. This river starts in Bidar district and enters Medak district. It flows 96kms in the district through Narayankhed, Jahirabad, Sangareddy and Narsapur Taluqs. Valdi River is also known as Pasupu Yeru, which is a tributary to Manjira. The land can be divided into clay lands, alluvial and sand lands.

The total irrigated areas in hectares were presently is 38,000 as against 1,15,000 in the year 1956-57.

SINGUR PROJECT: Project was constructed on Manjira river to cater the irrigation facilities for Medak district. But the water from this project was stopped for irrigation and the water being used for drinking purposes for Hyderabad.
