The
Khammam district is surrounded by Madhya Pradesh State borders in
the North, Krishna district in the South, East Godavari district in
the East, Warangal and Nalgonda districts in the West
directions. This word
comes from ‘Stambhadri’. This is in the center of Khammam town. The
temple structure ‘Mantapam’ stands on the rocks of the hill. So it
is called Stambhadri, Stambhagiri, Kambagiri. This is 5.82 percent
of the state width area.
Before 591 A.D. this was under the rule of Mahadeva Varma.
During the period of Mahadeva Raj of this dynasty in 9th generation,
the hosters Laxma Reddy, Rangareddy and Velama Reddy of Warangal
unearthed fahrlors treasures and they trained army with that money.
They occupied Khammam and brief a fort. It took ten years to build
Khammam and in 1066 A.D. it was inaugurated. This district was under
Teddy kings for 3 centuries and after that because of Gajapathi
Kings in various went under the rule of Nandaparni, Kalluru and
Gudur families.
This
district was formed in the year 1953.
This
place was under the rule of Reddy, Ganapathi, Kushan, and Nizam
Kings.
