Head Quarter : Hyderabad                                                                              Area: 217 sq.km

The  Hyderabad district is surrounded by Medak district in the North, Mahaboobnagar district in the South, Nalgonda district in the East and Karnataka state in the West directions. The important point in Hyderabad history is the history of Golconda and Hyderabad States. As is in the case of other Telangana districts this district also was under the rule of Satavahana, Badami Chalukya, Kalyana Chalukya and Kakatiyas till 14th century A.D. When India attained Independence in 1947, but the Nizam was reluctant to join Indian Union and attempted to declare Independent Nizam. Then the Union conducted police operation and made Nizam a part of India. From 1948 till 1956 Nizam was the Raj Pramuka of the state. Andhra Pradesh was formed on 1st November 1956 and thus ended the monarchy of the Nizam.
